St Andrew’s Day is Scotland’s national day and an official bank holiday, marked with ceilidhs, food events and the flying of the Saltire. Scotland keeps the same time as Wales year-round, both being on Greenwich Mean Time in winter, though Edinburgh’s more northerly latitude means the sun sets there around twenty minutes earlier than in Cardiff at this time of year.
