Boxing Day on 26 December is a bank holiday in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and much of the Commonwealth, known as St Stephen’s Day in Ireland and parts of Europe. It is a traditional fixture day in British football and rugby, and marks the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, which begins at 1:00pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time, 2:00am in Wales.
